Spanning Generations

by Carrie
(USA)

Cars is a movie for all generations, from toddlerhood right through the old age home. The guys love it for the action & humor - car races, tractor tipping, and even smash up crashes. The ladies love it for the love story hidden between the exhaust pipes.

Viewers of all ages will love the characters - the hot shot Lightening McQueen, The classic - The King, a retiring race car, Doc - the small town judge/doctor with a secret past, Sally - the leading lady, and Mater - the townie lacking in smarts, but brimming with humor and with a heart of gold. There is a character for everyone to love.

The basic storyline is the that of a successful rookie race car who doesn't think he needs anyone to help him win as he learns that sometimes there is more to life and the race than winning as he finds himself stuck in an old forgotten town off of Route 66 on his way to a big championship race.

Along the way he finds friends, love, and a conscience. Although the basic storyline in itself is ageless, if you look a little deeper into the movie you will find even more.... The music encompasses songs from past to present including covers of classics by new artists.

Hidden within the perfect animation are symbols of various models of cars, the classic Cadillacs buried in the desert, and snippets of humor for the adults, but still appropriate for the little ones. Cars is truly a heartwarming film from Disney/Pixar that is sure to become a classic for the ages.
