Earth's Future in Wall-E

by Billy
(Illinois)

I particularly enjoyed the scene of Wall-E where they showed the history of how the Earth was led to waste and the mass exodus of its people. It showed how the mega corporation basically controlled all aspects of commerce on Earth and proceeded to deplete all resources on the planet.

The company then encouraged the people of the Earth to leave the planet on their space traveling cruise ships, promising that their robots would clean up the planet and everyone would return to a rejuvenated Earth.

I liked this scene because I like to see dystopian futures of the planet. I love movies that envision what the Earth might be like after some sort of catastrophe and how everyone deals with the environment that they are placed in. My favorite character in the movie would have to be Wall-E himself - who's wasn't?

I've loved every one of Pixar's movies, and I'm excited for the new one coming out,
Toy Story 3.

The concept of a robot being different from other robots and gaining sentience is a common theme among books and movies. I liked the personality that Pixar gave to the robot WALL-E. It was very cute and charming, especially the way that he collected human items and the innocent curiosity that he showed in them.

His little cockroach buddy was also a really fun character, especially the way that the robot protected him. It was clever to have a supporting character be a cockroach, considering all of the popular culture references to cockroaches being the last surviving animals on the Earth after a catastrophe.
