Disney Cars 2
Exciting International Spy Thriller
The 12th Pixar feature film is a sequel to the 2006 hit Cars. Disney Cars 2 brings back familiar characters but puts them into an exciting global environment. Throw in a thrilling spy plot complete with villains and secret weapons and you've got a sequel that will keep you on your seat!
John Lasseter Returns
Pixar's main helmsman returns to help direct his pet project. John Lasseter is a gear head in love with all things cars and he was inspired to create Disney Cars 2 when traveling the world promoting the first Cars movie.
Lasseter kept imagining how Mater would react in the different places he visited from the opposite driving of the UK to dealing with all the scooters in Italy.
Joining John Lasseter is co-director Brad Lewis, who directed Ratatouille. Additionally, Oscar award-winning Michael Giacchino, who scored Up, composes the music for Cars 2.
All in the Details
The greatest compliment this film receives is the phenomenal attention to detail in the scenery. Improved technology has shown the photorealism of water, the reflections of the lights on the cars characters and the lush details of the scenery.
Meticulous attention to the smallest things being "Car-ified" is truly a sight to behold. Big Ben in London becomes Big Bentley with grills and hood ornaments adorning the famous clock tower. "Cargoyles" ring the Notre Dame in Paris and the other ways the world has been reconstructed to accommodate a world of cars is impressive.

What About the Short Film for Cars 2?
With regard to the Pixar short film to be released with Cars 2, Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich has previously said, "We have announced we're going to do a short film in front of 'Cars 2' that uses the 'Toy Story' characters. We're going to keep them alive; they're not going away forever."
Pixar doesn't want to let the characters of Toy Story 3 to fade away and it's been planned to do a series of shorts over the coming years. The short film shown before Disney Cars 2 is called Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation, featuring Ken and Barbie. It's about the Toy Story gang coming together to make a vacation special for Ken and Barbie, in an unexpected way.
