Up (You Are Mine and I Love You!)

by Jennifer
(Virginia Beach, VA, USA)

If you are looking for an emotionally moving movie that will make you laugh, cry and experience every emotion in between, then UP is the movie for you. From the moment I sat down to watch it with my 3 daughters I was captivated by the story line.

Having not seen many previews and not knowing what the movie would be about, I was so pleasantly surprised by the perfect harmony of a movie adults could relate to and with which children could heartily laugh.

I was so touched and moved by the opening scenes on which the viewer is introduced to Ellie and Carl. Their love story was perfectly displayed and captured through short scenes recounting their joys and losses as a married couple. It perfectly set the stage for the bitter old man that became the main character that we all wanted to dislike, but could empathize with the pain he felt from being alive without his Ellie.

As the story progresses and Carl and Russell set out on their adventures, they meet a lanky bird named Kevin and a dog named Doug. Both characters add humor to the movie and evoke a sense of loyalty to their new owners.

One of our favorite lines is from Doug the dog as he happily pants, "You are my owner, and I love you." I often grab hold of my daughters now and squeeze them and tell them, "You are my daughter, and I love you!" They always giggle because they know I'm acting like Doug.

Throughout the movie, you see a transformation in Carl as he begins to soften and realize the truly important things in life are people.

This movie will leave you feeling thankful for every moment you have to spend with your precious loved ones. It will also cause you to reevaluate the things you find truly important in life and how to make each day count. Extremely deep lessons, from a few unlikely characters make UP one of the best Pixar films to date!
