The Leaping Lamp's Pixar Movies Review ContestWell folks, November 2nd has now come and the deadline for the contest entry to win the Toy Story 3 BluRay/DVD Combo has come to a close.
THANK YOU to all who have entered The Leaping Lamp's first ever contest! It was quite a success with lots of wonderfully well-written movie reviews. It was a joy to read them all, and it was a challenge to pick a winner. But I had a great partner to help: Fellow Pixar fan and blogger extrordinaire, Greg Mariotti of Pixar Talk was a guest judge for our first contest and he chose the winning entry from a top five selection. If you haven't checked out Pixar Talk yet, you really should. Greg's got updated, exciting and timely information on all things newsworthy about Pixar, including fascinating interviews with Pixar insiders, artists and film makers. Subscribe to his RSS feed while you're there so you don't miss a thing.
Nick wrote the winning entry for his outstanding review of WALL-E. Truth be known, he wrote reviews for each Pixar movie and not one but FOUR parts of a Toy Story 3 review. Nick knows his movies and is clearly a film buff and his passion is clear. I think you'll agree. You should read all of Nick's Pixar movie reviews at each main movie page - look for the Pixar Fan Contributions toward the bottom of each page and then look for Ultimate Pixar Tribute in the title. That'll be Nick. Here is a snippet of his movie review for WALL-E, . Ultimate Pixar Tribute- Movie #9: WallE by Nick DeVito ... This is my favorite film of all time. I'm not just talking about my favorite Pixar film; I mean out of all the movies in the world, this one is my favorite. The Godfather? No thank you. The Shining? Maybe another time. Citizen Kane? It's not happening. WallE? Oh, yes! I simply love this movie, and to me, it truly is perfect. Anyway, as I said everything here is perfect. The visuals are jaw-dropping; they pass Ratatouilles standards by a long shot, and at some points the things in this movie look like exact replicas of what they're trying to represent. When they go on to the Axiom, however, everything looks more like the future we come to expect from sci-fi movies, and it looks just as incredible as Earth does, but in a completely different way. Watching this movie is a real treat, because Pixar puts the hardest work into creating the most unnoticeable details, including things you probably wouldn't think about (such as making the air look polluted). Read the complete review. Honorable mentions in the Leaping Lamp's Movie Review Contest deserve to be highlighted as well. Jennifer from Virginia Beach wrote a review about how the movie Up made her feel and how she makes a sweet connection with her daughters. Up (You Are Mine and I Love You) Colleen from Utah has a friend with a name similar to one of the characters in Monsters Inc. and the movie sends a positive message to her son. Monsters Inc. - I Have a Constant Reminder of this Movie! Thanks again for so many great entries. Be sure to subscribe to The Leaping Lamp's RSS feed to get all our latest updates; lots of additions are coming soon.
