Ratatouille Movie Scene:
Anton Ego is Impressed
This scene is toward the end of the Ratatouille movie where the harsh and humorless food critic Anton Ego comes to Gusteau's restaurant to see what all the fuss is about with the new chef and superb cuisine.
He lets the chef decide what to prepare and is stunned when an elegant and artfully prepared dish of ratatouille arrives at his table. It is so simple - a farmer's dish, really.
Ego takes one bite and is instantly transported back to his childhood, when his own mother would make it for him. It gives him warm fuzzies and he polishes off the plate, licking his fingers like a contented boy.
Anton Ego wants to meet the chef, but Colette and Alfredo insist that he wait until all the customers leave first. It is then that they introduce Ego to the little chef, Remy. He thinks it's a joke but his smile quickly disappears.
Colette and Alfredo explain everything to Ego, and he sits quietly, listening. When they finish, he thanks them for the meal and leaves. The next morning's review in the newspaper is a beautiful summation of the critic's job. Listen to it a few times to fully appreciate what Anton Ego says.
This is a wonderful, wonderful scene from the end of this Pixar movie. I hope you like it as much as I do.
