Lemon Cars 2 Characters

A car that never works right is called a Lemon. The Cars 2 characters who are the villains in the movie are famous lemon makes and models from the past who are notoriously ugly and not very well liked. They get a big chuckle from those of us who were around when these cars were on the road. Who are these bad guys and what kind of lemon are they? Let's explore and find out.

Miles Axlerod

Cars 2 Miles Axelrod

British former oil tycoon Miles Axlerod sold off his fortunes and after an incident where he was lost in the jungle for a time, he decided to convert his engine to electric and pursue alternative fuel.

He since developed Allinol, a clean, renewable resource. To promote his new fuel, Miles Axlerod sponsors the first World Grand Prix, a 3-country race where the best race cars compete using only his fuel.

In a surprise turn of events, Mater figures out that Axlerod is the mastermind of the Allinol scandal, even though it seems as though Professor Z is behind the scheme. Miles Axlerod recently discovered a huge oil field in the ocean, the one that we see at the beginning of Cars 2. Converting to an alternative fuel would ruin his business, so he came up with a way for the public to reject alternative fuel: make it unsafe.

So this Cars 2 character collaborates with Professor Z and other lemons and develops an electromagnetic weapon disguised to look like a TV camera. The Allinol is treated so that it explodes in flames when it receives an electromagnetic pulse. Destroy the cars during the race to scare everyone into not using the fuel.

However, Miles Axlerod's plan fails when Lightning McQueen refuses to stop using Allinol despite dozens of race cars were destroyed after the Italian leg of the race.

In London, however, McQueen does not blow up when the electromagnetic camera zaps him. It is a mystery as to why until Fillmore confesses at the end of the movie that he replaced Allinol with his own organic fuel.

So as a back up plan, Miles Axlerod arranges a bomb to be planted in Mater's engine, because he knows that Mater and McQueen will meet up and he can blow up McQueen that way. It can only be deactivated by voice and it is Mater who figures out it's Axlerod.

Mater goes right up to Axlerod, who is nearby the Queen at the race's finish line and forces him to deactivate the bomb so as not to kill himself and everyone around him. Afterward, Mater opens up Axlerod's hood to reveal the exact same engine pictured behind the unseen mastermind behind the Allinol plot. Turns out Axlerod is a lemon himself! This Cars 2 character is based on the first generation Range Rover with a Rover V8 engine.

We don't get to see what actually happens to Miles Axlerod at the end of Cars 2, but we can guess that he was arrested and serves a lot of time for his crimes.

Professor Zündapp

Cars 2 Professor Z

2nd in command to Miles Axlerod, Professor Z is modeled after a Janus Zündapp, popular in Germany between 1957-1958. This Cars 2 character designed the electromagnetic camera that heats up the Allinol to the point of igniting. Professor Z is dedicated to Axlerod's plan to eliminate alternative fuel, rely on fossil fuels and see a rise of the lemons again.

Throughout the movie, we're fooled into thinking that Professor Z is the main villain, but we're given a hint that it's not the case in Italy at the Lemons' meeting, Professor Z comes through the door and everyone grumbles in disappointment. They were waiting for their "real" leader, Miles Axlerod, who we didn't know at that time was the mastermind.

It is Professor Z who plants the bomb on Mater's engine and he tries to escape, but both Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell capture him after a long chase throughout London.

Some Cars 2 fans just love the bad guys or simply want a complete Cars 2 characters collection. Buy this unique car for yourself with these highly rated choices:

Acer and Grem

Cars 2 Acer and Grem

These two Cars 2 characters are accomplices for Professor Zündapp, and ultimately Miles Axlerod. Acer is a green AMC Pacer, a popular "fishbowl"-like car from 1975-1980. Grem is also an AMC car, a beat-up orange Gremlin, made popular between 1970-1978.

Both Lemon Cars 2 characters work hard to bring down the race cars in the World Grand Prix by doing some of the dirty work in the scheme. Both cars corner Rod "Torque" Redline in the restroom at the pre-race party in Tokyo, beat him and take him to Professor Z.

Acer and Grem have the important task of discreetly operating the electromagnetic camera during the World Grand Prix races, carefully taking aim and zapping each victim.

These two cars supposedly plant the bomb inside Mater's engine and tie him, Holley Shiftwell and Finn McMissile to the cog gears of Big Bentley during the London Race. They have the camera up inside the clock to show Mater first-hand Lightning McQueen's destruction, but are both quite angry when McQueen mysteriously does not blow up when they blast him full power.

During the final showdown in London's streets, they just about corner Mater when Holley Shiftwell swoops in with her jet engines and forces them headlong into a pub, tumbling tables and guests all over the place. Angry patrons get into a brawl and we last see Grem and Acer getting pummeled.
