Honey, It's Time for Dinner!

The funniest scene from The Incredibles is when Bob Parr has come home after being fired and he's alone in his home office. After taking all the stuff out of his briefcase, he comes across the secret message tablet that Mirage sent him.

After it's confirmed that he's Mr. Incredible, Mirage's message fires off at a rapid pace. Bob's flustered as he grabs a pencil and scratch paper and jots down notes.

As he's trying to keep up with the secret message, Helen calls to him through the door, "Honey, it's time for dinner!" Bob replies in an annoyed voice, "I'll be right there!"

Then Helen responds, asking him about the voice she hears and Bob tells her it's just the TV and she urges him to come to the dinner table - all the while Mirage is briefing him on a top-secret high tech and DANGEROUS mission.

Ah, the contrast of lives: Mundane, rather boring domestic life with wife and kids, and the exotic and exciting world of superhero work.

The way Pixar pulls off this contrast in The Incredibles is hilarious. Another time is just when the Incredibles family has just landed in Metroville from the rocket, to rescue the city from Syndrome and his robot.

Just as they land with the motorhome on the freeway, Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl bicker about where to turn off - it is SOOO realistic the way they argue and feels so opposite the glamorous life of a superhero.
