Pixar Shorts:
BURN-E is one of the Pixar shorts that interweaves a short story with the main story. In this short film, BURN-E, who is a Basic Utility Repair Nano Engineer, has a series of unlucky incidents during the time the events in WALL-E is taking place. We briefly see BURN-E when WALL-E and EVE return from space dancing through an open door. The door automatically closes, leaving BURN-E stuck outside as he pounds on it.

One of the particles swirls away and gains high velocity speed as it ricochets off of Mars' atmosphere and becomes a small meteorite. It gains speed and passes the probe ship and heads right for the starliner Axiom. It knocks out one of the Axiom's lights.
The Main Computer notifies Auto on the bridge of the outage and SUPPLY-R, a supply and storage robot, delegates BURN-E, a welding repair robot, to fix the light. BURN-E takes the new lighting fixture and heads toward the airlock, and goes out onto the ship to make the repair. He takes out the damaged fixture and puts the new one in place.
Meanwhile, the probe ship with WALL-E and EVE returns to the Axiom. As the starliner eases into the docking station, WALL-E waves to BURN-E. Surprised by WALL-E's presence on top of the smaller ship, BURN-E waves back, causing his new light to float away. BURN-E cannot reach it in time as it floats off into space and he must return the long distance to SUPPLY-R for another light. SUPPLY-R demonstrates disapproval at BURN-E's carelessness.
In this Pixar short, BURN-E gets the new light in place and begins welding it and in the meantime, GO-4 has just placed the plant into the escape pod. WALL-E steps inside and shows EVE the plant, but the pod closes and shoots off into space with EVE following behind. We see the pod ejecting behind BURN-E in the distance.
Suddenly the pod explodes in the distance and that startles BURN-E, causing him to lose the light a second time. Again he must return to SUPPLY-R for another light and he looks shamefully downcast as SUPPLY-R drops the light on the floor instead of handing it to him.
WALL-E and EVE end their space dancing just as BURN-E finishes his job, but as soon as the two enter the bay, it closes, locking BURN-E out. He goes along his track trying to find some way back inside, but eventually gives up in defeat in this Pixar short film.
Later in the distance, the garbage airlock opens in the distance, letting out a big block of trash. BURN-E rushes over, hoping to get inside. EVE is holding WALL-E, flying with all her might to stay inside the airlock. She succeeds, but BURN-E is too late - the door slams shut with him still outside.
To pass the time, BURN-E makes a flower shape near the track. The intense heat from his blow torch gives him the idea to cut his way back through the door, which he does and he goes back inside. He reaches out to SUPPLY-R to turn the power on to the newly installed light just as the fight begins between Captain McCrea and AUTO.
Their skirmish causes the Axiom to tilt off-center, throwing BURN-E outside the ship again. He hangs on for dear life on the light he just fixed in this Pixar Short. The Captain rights the ship once again, but just as he's about to enter, the ship launches into hyper-drive back to Earth and BURN-E is pinned by force to the side of the Axiom.
The ship docks back on Earth and BURN-E collapses with relief. He goes back inside only to find it completely deserted. He finds himself in one of the escape pods and he sees SUPPLY-R on the ground below. He waves, but his arm accidentally pushes the red launch button and he's ejected out and crashes behind SUPPLY-R and another robot. The pod hatch explodes upward and out pops BURN-E who comes to SUPPLY-R, giggling as he turns on the lamp. The power is restored the the lamp and BURN-E is triumphant.
Only the hatch that is flying high in the air comes down again knocking out the light. BURN-E falls down in defeat - he can't believe his bad luck. At the end of the credits, SUPPLY-R comforts BURN-E, patting him and saying "There, there." This is one of those really cute Pixar shorts.
