Toy Story Characters:
Human Characters
The Toy Story characters who are people in the movie play rather minor parts, but Pixar has a way with the story in the Toy Stoy movie that helps you feel strongly for them. What's not to like about Andy? And don't you feel badly for little Hanna? I won't even get into Sid Phillips' issues!
Andy Davis
The five year old owner of the main toys. Andy's favorite toy is Woody, but for his fifth birthday, he receives a Buzz Lightyear action figure. Andy is fascinated with Buzz and that starts the rivalry between Woody and Buzz.
Andy discovers he loves both Woody and Buzz equally when they both went missing and come back to him just as he's moving to a new house with his family.
Molly Davis
Molly is Andy's one year old baby sister. Cute as can be, we don't see much of her, except in the beginning of Toy Story where she's chewing and drooling on Mr. Potato Head. Much of the influence from Molly was taken from the baby character in the Pixar short film, Tin Toy.
Mrs. Davis
This is Molly and Andy's mother. So far as we can tell, there is no Mr. Davis in the picture. Why was he left out? Is Mrs. Davis a single mom? Widowed? Divorced? Hard to say, but she treats her children sweetly and seems like a great mommy.
Hannah Phillips
Sid Phillips' rather timid, quiet little sister. Hannah's poor toys usually end up as Sid's victims and turn into Mutant Toys. She often holds tea parties with her dolls and when she sees Buzz, she borrows him and dresses him up and calls him Mrs. Nesbit.
Sid Phillips
The bully and pure terror of a boy, Sid Phillips is Andy Davis' neighbor who tortures toys. This Toy Story character has a buzz cut, braces and wears tee-shirts with skulls on them; he's the dictionary definition of the mean kid.
All of Sid's poor toys have been mutilated, disfigured and reassembled to look like monstrous mutant toys. As scary as they are to look at in the beginning, we soon learn that they're good and they help Woody.
In Toy Story, Sid tapes a fire cracker to a soldier toy and blows him up. Later, he's the one who uses the claw game to capture Buzz Lightyear and once at home, duct tapes Buzz to a rocket. But bad weather prevents him from his plot and he waits until morning.
Sid gets what's coming to him at the end of the movie, when the toys "break the rules" and Woody lectures him about treating toys properly. That terrifies Sid and makes him think about the horrible things he's done to his own toys, which scares him even more. Hannah, Sid's younger sister, takes advantage of the situation and taunts him with her doll.
