Toy Story 3 Characters: JessieEven after all these years, Jessie as a one of the Toy Story 3 characters is still an enthusiastic, yodeling cowgirl. But she also remains traumatized from being abandoned by her previous owner, Emily, and has a deep fear that Andy will eventually do the same thing to her. When Andy puts all his toys into a garbage bag intended for the attic, she wails, "I should have seen this coming! It's Emily all over again!" Because she never wants to feel that rejection again, she leads the rest of Andy's Toy Story 3 characters to the Sunnyside Daycare donation box after they were left by the curbside for garbage pick up. When Woody catches up to them and explains what happened, Jessie stubbornly refuses to believe him and says that since Andy's moving on, then they must do the same. Once they arrive at Sunnyside and are shown around the facilities by Lotso and the other Sunnyside toys, Jessie learns that the children never outgrow the toys; new children come in year after year. She tries to talk Woody into staying, but Woody refuses, stating that they belong to Andy and he leaves them all, calling her selfish as he walks off. The reality of Sunnyside hits them hard, literally, when they learn that the children in their room play roughly and disrespectfully. Poor Jessie has her beautiful red hair dipped in paint and she's used as a paintbrush while the other toys are also mistreated.
Shortly after, Mrs. Potatohead is able to see with her missing eye in Andy's room and she confirms what Woody had told him: they were meant to go into the attic! Jessie and the other main Toy Story 3 characters now realize that Woody was telling the truth and they were wrong and they decide right there that the need to get back home to Andy. But during this time, Buzz went in search of Lotso to see about a room reassignment, but returned reprogrammed in his space ranger demo mode along with Lotso, and he locks everyone up. To make the Toy Story 3 characters feel even more threatened, Lotso tosses out Woody's missing hat in front of them all and this makes Jessie feel even worse, thinking something bad happened to Woody. But once Woody rejoins them after another grueling day of play, Jessie apologizes to Woody for not listening to him and then they get on with their escape plan. Their plan is complicated a bit when Buzz accidentally goes into Spanish mode, but Jessie doesn't mind when Buzz romances her as the conquistador of her heart. Later inside the garbage truck, during their dangerous ride to the dump, Buzz saves Jessie as another dumpster full of garbage falls around them. Buzz saves Jessie just as a heavy TV falls on him. Jessie cries out in shock, terrified that the new love of her life is now gone. But he's OK and the nasty bump switched him back to his old self. Jessie and Buzz remain together, along with all the other Toy Story 3 characters during the harrowing shredder and incinerator scenes. The two of them also find that they are still holding hands even after the danger has passed. All of the main Toy Story characters hitch a ride back with the garbage truck that goes by Andy's house on its route, and upon arrival, they wash themselves off with the garden hose. Jessie beautiful red hair looks just as clean and pretty as before. Jessie and Buzz continue to grow closer and she teases him that she knows about his Spanish mode, to which he looks at her in confusion. It is a bittersweet goodbye with Andy as he hands over his toys to Bonnie for safe keeping. Buzz and Jessie end Toy Story 3 by dancing together to the Spanish version of "You've Got a Friend in Me."
